Amy, Amy was born with a congenital heart defect and underwent several operations in the first five
years of my life to repair a narrow aorta and a ventricular septal defect (abnormal hole in the heart). She
had two cardiac catherisations in 2004 and 2006 to widen her pulmonary artery, however it was discovered in
a routine check up in 2007 that a valve was leaking and that it would need a replacement. Amy had open heart
surgery in September 2007 and had a tissue replacement valve. Amy is happy to chat with anyone who is waiting for
or recovering from heart surgery.
