Paul R's StoryHi All, My name is Paul Richard, and until july 2008 I was a normal 34 yr old with family commitments, a tidy job and had just returned from a holiday in Florida. During the holiday something did'nt feel right. Excessive tiredness, night time sweats, and generally could'nt be bothered with anything. When we arrived home from holiday I found out my dad had a heart attack which required a stent to be fitted. His arteries had blocked with chlestrol fat, and as a result I was sent to have blood tests to see my levels. The results came back and something was out in my levels, then blood was detected in my urine from my works medical and refered for further tests. During this time I was working a nightshift and had terrible cramp in my calf, so I went to our occupational health nurse who rubbed it out. I was told I looked like death warmed up and advised to take an hours rest. After that hour my right leg was in agony and I was told to go to hospital. At this time my left side and right leg were in agony. I was kept in with various tests and every specialist looking at me. The problem then introduced itself 4days later...ENDOCARDITIS!!! I had a stay of 10weeks in hospital with all sorts of ups and downs, such as suspected bone marrow cancer, possible spleen removal. Eventually I needed 2 heart valves being replaced during a 9hr operation. (miteral and aortic valves are now mechanical) Im still experincing every emotion possible, and having great problems with my work. If you need to know anymore, let me know. paul You are here: Home >> Your Stories >> Paul R's Story |
